Malia & Co.Salon and Spa

To think that it all started at Panera Bread…no, seriously. In the fall of 2020, amidst the COVID chaos and their busy lives, our three fearless leaders met up for coffee and pastries at the local Vienna Panera Bread to dream a little dream that turned into Malia & Co. Salon and Spa!

At the time, Misty was working as a speech pathologist and Kallie and Leah were working as stylists in the area. So, how did the beauty bunch get together? As a little girl Misty always admired her grandma Millie’s salon, Eleganté Beauty Lounge, and she dreamed of co-owning a shop of her own some day. Of course, not a cosmetologist by trade, she would need the perfect partners.

Enter Kallie! Kallie happened to be Misty’s daughter Lily’s close childhood friend! When Kallie started cosmetology school, Misty would constantly remind her of her beauty shop dream, hoping that one day Kallie would take her up on the offer.

Enter Leah! Leah met Kallie and Misty’s daughter Lily in middle school, where the three became fast friends and remained close over the years. Leah and Kallie both attended cosmetology school after high school, going on to become roommates and eventually work together at the same salon. It wasn’t long before Misty’s words echoed in their heads, and they began to dream of co-owning their very own salon.

Enter pastries! One thing led to another and the three started conducting weekly coffee shop meetings to discuss this crazy dream! The Panera Bread meetings grew plentiful while their idea binder tripled in size. There was A LOT to talk about. What would it look like? What would it feel like? What services would they offer? What music would they play? But probably the most daunting decision of all was the name. 

Misty. Kallie. Leah. 

Mi-llie-ah ➡️ Malia! 

This name of Hawaiian origin translates to “calm and peaceful”. Could there be ANY better word to describe the environment they wanted to create? It was meant to be! 

They searched high and low for the perfect location, but finally after a long winded search, they found Suite 107. It was perfect! They fell in love with the huge windows and the beautiful natural light and they quickly set out to make the space their own! One renovation and a hundred plants later and the rest was history! 

We have enjoyed every step of the journey creating  Malia & Co. and transforming it into a relaxation oasis for all who visit! We are passionate about what we do and are so thankful that we get to serve the Mid Ohio Valley, helping our clients create their own definition of beauty ❤
